A new legal regime: Law No. 144/2015 of 8 September, which came to transpose Directive 2013/11 / EU, of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 21 May 2013, on the alternative dispute resolution of consumption and which establishes the legal framework for the mechanisms for out-of-court resolution of consumer disputes, creating in Portugal the Consumer Arbitration Network.

All suppliers of goods and service providers are obliged to inform consumers about the ADR entities available or to which they have voluntarily joined or to which they are bound by law (this is the case with the necessary arbitration for essential public services, ie , electricity, gas, water and waste, electronic communications and postal services).

 

In the event of a dispute the consumer may resort to an Alternative Dispute Resolution Entity for consumption:
