Portugal voted europe's best destination in 2021

Portugal was considered the best country in Europe to visit in 2021 by users of the European Best Destinations website.

According to Jornal de Notícias, in a statement released on Wednesday by Turismo de Portugal, the entity considers that this distinction "consolidates the country's position as a destination of excellence, remaining at the top of the preferences of tourists".

According to the European Best Destinations website, users highlight Braga, Porto, the beaches of Cascais and the Algarve, Madeira and the Azores as must-see places. After Braga was the city elected as Best European Destination of 2021, it is now Portugal's turn. According to users of the site, which is visited by more than six million travelers a year, Portugal is distinguished by its natural beauty, gastronomy, beaches and history rich in tradition.

Based on traffic and research data from recent months, in the ranking of the best countries to visit in 2021 from European Best Destinations, France comes in 2nd place, followed by Greece, 3rd place, Italy, 4th place and Croatia in 5th place.

Quoted in the statement, the President of Tourism of Portugal stresses that, "more than a destination, Portugal is an experience that impacts the tourist. Because our country has everything for everyone. From north to south, inland or coastal and islands, those who visit us want to return. And this 'ranking' shows us that, despite everything that has happened in recent months, tourists do not forget Portugal and are eager to return.
