These names are of Roman and Lusitanian origin which leads us to believe that the inscription occurred in this period.
Toulões has as orago Santo António that, around his image, generated a narrative (or legend) very old, passed in the year 1844. The story is that in the fields of Toulões there was a huge wolf that devoured the herds and attacked the shepherds. The whole village was terrified, several mounts and snares were made, but they all resulted in vain. In the face of such a situation, they asked and prayed to St. Anthony that if he saved the land of the wolf, they offered, annually, a great feast in his honor. A few days later, three great wolves appeared dead, returning peace to the village.
Nowadays, the feast of St. Anthony continues to take place and is one of the high and joyful moments for the entire population and Carriçal, a nice place attached.
